Jeff Rose plays mandolin and sings lead and harmony vocals. His songwriting skills are second to none and are one of the pillars of the Detour sound. Jeff's bluegrass roots run deep in eastern Kentucky. He toured extensively for over twenty years with Iowa Rose, the High Canyon Ramblers and the Porkypines. He has also led numerous workshops on songwriting, mandolin and guitar technique. Jeff is one of the current reigning IBMA golf champions.

Scott Zylstra plays guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals. He is a master of tone, taste and timing and propels the band forward with his superb rhythm and tasteful lead work. Scott has played in a number of bands throughout Michigan including the Porkypines. Scott is the owner of Frontier Recording, a highly successful recording and production studio. Scott's distinctive guitar style is always an immediate crowd favorite.

Zak Bunce "drives" the Detour sound with the doghouse bass. Zak started singing and playing music at an early age in one of Michigan's leading roots family bands, Lake Effect. Zak has also performed extensively with his sister, Rachael Davis. Even though Zak doesn't look like he could ever be lonesome, when he sings lead he reaches out and grabs that high lonesome sound.

Peter Knupfer has been a professional bluegrass, folk, swing and jazz fiddle player for over 30 years. Knupfer has performed with Byron Berline, Joel Mabus, Alan Munde, Donald Stiernberg, Jon McCeuen, Tony Trishka, Bill Evans, Bill Keith, Tim O'Brien, Peter Wernick, Greg Cahill, Peter Ostroushko and Howard Levy. Knupfer holds a doctorate in ninetenth century American history from the University of Wisconsin, teaches U.S. History at Michigan State University and lives in East Lansing with his spouse Nancy and five children.
Pete Knupfer is one of those rare and wonderful fiddle players who can do it all. His backround as a historian displays itself musically in his reverence for authenticity and knowledge of repertoire, regardless of style. More importantly, he swings his butt off and reminds us that when it's time to dance, nothing beats a fiddle. Whether he's playing Old Time, Bluegrass, Newgrass, Country, or Swing, Peter always brings a joyful intensity to the session and elevates his fellow musicians. Donald Stiernberg

Mike Sumner has established himself within the bluegrass world as one of the finest five string banjo players around. A winner of numerous banjo contests including: Winfield National Banjo Championship, Merlefest and Rockygrass. Mike is one of the most musical banjo players in the biz today. Mike brings a number of original tunes to the band and sings lead and harmony vocals. Mike hails from southern Indiana and currently resides in Traverse City.
